In a recent announcement, YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki hinted that the company is considering including NFTs to offer more income for its creators.
“We’re always focused on expanding the YouTube ecosystem to help creators capitalize on emerging technologies, including things like NFTs” stated the CEO in the letter. This new letter was Wojcicki’s way of informing the YouTube community of some of the areas YouTube is planning to invest in, such as gaming and shopping, and its new ideas to support creators.
YouTube is not the only platform that has been hinting at such updates, as other platforms such as Twitter, and Meta (which includes both Facebook and Instagram) have been letting its users display their tokens and prized possessions.
Although the rumored feature is not in full function, many famous YouTube creators have already turned their viral videos into NFTs and have individually put them on sale.
