The company behind the popular video-sharing app TikTok, ByteDance, is looking for a Product Manager for an upcoming AI-powered music creation and audio editing tool in Los Angeles. The app’s primary objective is to break down barriers to music creation and inspire artistic expression, thereby enriching the overall music content.
ByteDance has already launched two AI-powered music creation apps, Mawf and Sponge Band, in China. The latter provides users with AI tools to enhance audio effects and background music for short videos. However, the market for such tools is currently dominated by Singapore-based music creation platform BandLab, which boasts 60 million registered creators and 17 million new songs per month. The platform has also developed its own generative AI tool called Songstarter.
The recently posted job ad exposes ByteDance’s plan to introduce an AI-driven music creation and audio editing app. The company will be vying for market share against BandLab and Splice, a US-based music creation platform, which boasts its own AI-powered music creation tool – CoSo. Nevertheless, ByteDance has a notable edge with TikTok’s vast network of one billion monthly active users worldwide, who are already immersed in music-related content.
In addition, TikTok is seeking a “Music Creator Operations Manager” for their Music Creation Department in Los Angeles. The team is composed of experienced music professionals with a shared goal of breaking new ground in music creation and includes a focus on developing music production tools and AI-generated music compositions. The ideal candidate will possess the skills to enhance user activation and retention of the music creation app while converting creator needs into product features.
